Hello World!

Hello to you all and welcome to my blog.  I am so excited to be sharing this space with you and hope that we can become firm friends.

A bit about me, if I may and how I got to being here with you.  After all we all have life that has brought us to where we are now.

I had worked for so many years as a nurse, but one day my NHS job went in a massive re-structure, my children were grown and I found myself sitting and wondering what comes next for me.

In the months whilst waiting to leave my job, I’d been asked numerous times ‘what are you going to do, what comes next, where are you going’.  And the answer was always that I really didn’t know. I had a few irons in the proverbial fire but nothing concrete and sitting downstairs at 6.30am in an empty house with a bowl of cornflakes, I was also wondering “what do I do now?”

One of my team gave me two books when I left.  One was “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho and the other “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson.  They are both about change and how you deal with it.  I loved the fact that I would have enough time to read, but I was strangely reticent to delve into them – I might have to admit that for the first time in my life that I was unemployed.

Despite not having a job, I was still sat at my desk in front of the screens that I have cursed for keeping me constantly inside since Lockdown brought me to home working.  I felt safe in here with radio 2 playing in the background, It felt familiar, but I knew it wasn’t somewhere I should be staying for long.  It was time for the next stage.

On my second day of unemployment, I woke up with a smile in my heart.  I felt free! I have always been a great believer in trusting your gut, whilst balancing that with sensibility.  This approach has served me well and I am grateful for that.

And this is when working with people but in a different context, in the same compassionate way came into my life and I became a Celebrant.

And here we are today, together, getting to know each other.
